What price glory?Published Jan. 6, 2003 The Tri-City area has reclaimed a dubious crown. Gasoline price capital of Washington. The AAA of Washington said, just before Christmas, that our average of $1.449 per unleaded gallon was the highest and Olympia's $1.229 per gallon the lowest. Used to be we were always at the top. Gasoline suppliers provided the excuse that we were remote and badly placed on various pipelines. Then another marketer came to the region and overnight we had the cheapest. Now we're back on top. Paraphrasing Abraham Lincoln about the man being ridden out of town on a rail: If it weren't for the honor of the thing, we'd just as soon pass. | |
