All games will be at Posse Stadium, and tickets cost $4. Limited concessions will be available. Training camp officially opens Thursday at Posse Stadium. # # # The Posse will hold an open tryout session Saturday at Posse Stadium. Posse manager Wally Backman and his staff will run the camp. "We have intentionally kept our roster down this season in order to add any local players we feel we could help our team," Backman said. "Last year, we had to pass on some pretty good talent because we already had so many players on the roster." Registration for the camp is at 8 a.m., and the camp begins at 9 a.m. Cost is $25 cash. Players can pre-register by calling the Posse at 547-6773. Players should bring all the necessary gear for a full workout and simulated game. Spectators may attend for free. # # # The Feather River Mudcats in Marysville, Calif., signed infielder Manny Cora and pitcher Phillip Haigler to their WBL roster. Cora has played in the Padres and Mariners organizations for eight years, while Haigler was in the Twins organization. # # # Two days after Chip Hanauer retired as an unlimited hydroplane driver, the Fred Leland U-100 team landed a new driver and sponsor. The former PICO boat will be driven by Greg Hopp and the boat will be sponsored by Project X - a new Washington state-based interactive health network. Hopp was the 1999 Rookie of the Year on the unlimited circuit. # # # Charlie Wiggins will drive the U-6 Miss Madison this season, replacing Todd Yarling. Wiggins had a successful 1999 season when he won five unlimited light races. # # # Walla Walla will be the site of the Northwest Collegiate Cycling Championships on Saturday and Sunday as an estimated 200 racers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado and other states will contest the fourth annual Tour of Walla Walla. In one event, all comers can ride against some of the best bicycle competitors in the region. The last event will feature fast racing on a short circuit downtown for good spectator viewing. To race or volunteer, call Steve Rapp at (509) 527-8724. Pre-registration is encouraged at Bicycle Barn or Dave's Bicycles by 5 p.m. Friday or at Coffee Perk by 10 p.m Friday.
